RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. It is a way to export information from one website and import it into another website.

For example, you may write posts to a blog that supports RSS. The blog will automatically create an RSS feed that contains all the titles and contents of the posts you write, along with links to view the posts on your blog site. This RSS feed can then be imported into another website, to display the latest titles and/or contents of your blog posts.

Locating Website Feeds

On Web pages, web feeds are typically linked with the word "Subscribe", an orange rectangle, Livemark.png, or with the letters XML.gif or RSS.gif. Many news aggregators such as My Yahoo! publish subscription buttons Addtomyyahoo4.gif for use on Web pages to simplify the process of adding news feeds.

Feed Readers

A feed reader is a software application that collects feeds of interest to its user. The user simply adds the feed address from whichever website he or she wants to subscribe to and can then keep up to date with the website's content through the feed reader, without having to actually visit the website. It works in a similar way to an email application, automatically downloading content to be viewed.
