Search engine
From Dharmasphere
A search engine is a program designed to help find information stored on the World Wide Web and other computer systems. Typically, a user will use a search engine to find certain keywords or phrases in websites. The search engine will then present results with the most relevant at the top.
Different search engines determine relevancy in different ways. For example, Technorati searches blogs to find the most recently created relevant content, whereas Google considers factors such as the density of keywords on a page and how many other websites link to the page (see 'link popularity' on Wikipedia).
